Maybe we should have reached out to you sooner, but we didn't get around to it. Who knew running a distillery was actually a challenging job? But now is really a great time to say a few words about something fantastic that happened a couple of weeks ago.
If you didn't catch it on our social media, on October 20th, a spectacular event took place, which we organized with the Jevremovac Botanical Garden. We were choosing a new gin flavor, inspired by plants found in this institution, which celebrates its 150th anniversary next year. And it is next year that the "offspring" of our collaboration, i.e., the winner of this selection, will be released.
The event itself was truly beautiful and excellently organized. We had two stands. At one, you could taste three recipes that were competing for the new flavor. We were so modern that a QR code was used for voting, which further guided you on what to do. You also had the opportunity to guess the mysterious ingredients in these gins. It turned out that eight visitors had an above-average sense of taste. The prize, of course, was a bottle of the best gin. Our gin. I guess we don't need to emphasize that.
At the other stand, you could see a common sight at our events – a couple of enthusiasts making drinks for you and potentially yelling at you. Okay, we didn't yell much this time, because there were really a lot of you, so we couldn't keep up. We worked ourselves to death making you gin and tonic, gin soda, and the big star of the evening, gin sonic, our brilliant invention, also known as "what's this blue stuff" among the people. There were so many of you that things ran out several times. So many liters of gin were drunk that even the livers of Toma Zdravković and Boris Yeltsin would not be ashamed of the final result.
But let's get back to the voting. Over 130 people voted for the proposed recipes, and recipe number 2 won by a narrow margin. When we say recipe number 2, that means absolutely everything to you, and we don't have to explain what goes into it. Right?! Of course not, and now we will exclusively reveal the mysterious ingredients. Besides the standard gin ingredients, we put lemon balm, sage, dried pear, and elderflower in this recipe. Can you imagine these plants on your palate while drinking gin and tonic? And you don't have to imagine, just take our word for it.
Even the weather didn't hinder us. It was a really beautiful and sunny day, and there were only positive vibes. Not even the DJ duo Disko buvljak, who were in charge of the music, could spoil the mood. Just kidding, they were awesome too, and we thank them for that. Although, they should be thanking us for allowing them to play in the Botanical Garden. If it weren't for us, you'd still be playing in obscure dives in Svrljig.
Anyway, since the event went so well, we are seriously planning to repeat this gathering in the spring. And by then, the winner of this competition will also be released – gin with the taste of Belgrade!
